Ethan is a Principal at Phase3 Photovoltaics.  He has most recently served as the research and development director at SunEdison.  He holds a bachelors of science in silicon metallurgy and a doctorate solid-state physics, both from the Colorado School of Mines, and then conducted his post-doc at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.  Throughout his career, Ethan helped found startups, like Solar Power Industries in Pittsburgh,  led large chemical company product development teams like at Dow Corning,  and spearheaded manufacturing innovation, like at SolarWorld, the largest silicon photovoltaic manufacturing facility in the United States.

Nathan is a Principal at Phase3 Photovoltaics.  He has an exceptional history as an innovator in solar, working most recently as the Principal Scientist at SolarWorld Americas.  In that role, he led crystal growth expansions and new product development.  Nathan previously drove research activities at 1366 Technologies and at BP Solar, launching revolutionary approaches for silicon wafer production.  He has a bachelor’s of science degree in physics at Villanova University and a PhD in materials science from North Carolina State University.  During his career, he has been granted 21 patents in the US alone, covering topics accross the entire solar supply chain.

Steve is a Principal at Phase3 Phtovoltaics.  He has been working in the solar industry for over 14 years at various manufacturing and installation companies. Throughout his career he has been involved in almost every piece of the value chain. He has held positions as instructor, fabricator, sales person, designer, project manager, installer, inspector, operation and maintenance and forensic analysis. Steve has performed these tasks on projects from small off-grid applications to utility scale projects. He holds the following Licenses:  Solar Thermal License (STL), Limited Renewable Technician (LRT), NABCEP Solar Heating Installer Certification, and NABCEP Solar PV Installation Professional Certification and holds a seat on the board at OSEIA the Oregon chapter of SEIA. 

Bjoern is a Principal at Phase3 Photovoltaics.  He has experience managing automation, process, and equipment engineering groups at several international semiconductor companies. He is responsible for cost, productivity, and process integration of new technologies in a high-volume manufacturing environment.  Over the last years, he has developed new strategies to lead teams from pilot stage into high volume manufacturing. He has also been responsible for developing site-wide yield monitoring strategies and building the framework for a quality assurance department.  Dr. Seipel holds a Ph.D. in materials science from the University of Tübingen, Germany and has more than 15 years of experience in the semiconductor industry. He began his professional career in academia working on cutting edge technologies, such as spintronics.
